We get many requests to The Transparency Project for one of our legal bloggers to attend court hearings and/or to suggest a journalist who can attend and report. We at TP have limited capacity as we’re volunteers and, although we know a few excellent journalists with an interest in family courts, they are always busy.

There are barriers for journalists starting out to find a case to report on, as explained by Gareth Davies in this new post by The Bureau of Investigative Journalism (TBIJ) – Courting Coverage: our new initiative to increase family court reporting

TBIJ have come up with an innovative idea for a ‘map’ that can match requests for a journalist with a journalist who might be available to attend. This is all explained by TBIJ – who have a substantial record of effective family court reporting.

The first step is for journalists to contact TBIJ – we hope that the scheme will get off the ground soon and will post updates.
